Super Monkey Ball on iPhone sells 300K copies via App Store

Further proving the iPhone’s future as a viable gaming platform, and cementing the likelyhood there will be significant legal issues surrounding it as such, Super Monkey Ball for the iPhone sold 300,000 copies via the App Store. That’s SOLD, not shipped, so that’s all straight revenue (minus the small cut that Apple gets). This is a big deal, and something we’ll be keeping track of as it develops. Remember, that’s not a huge amount of revenue, (around $3 million according to Kotaku) but, at the same time, the low price point eases sales. If a developer can put out a modest number of really good games at a compelling price, using the App Store, they can make a great profit with little overhead.
